My very first test shot with one of my Christmas presents: a Nikon SB-900 Speedlight. Love it! It's a beast though. I also got a very hefty Manfrotto tripod with ballhead!
Looks like you got a great Xmas present.
I have used my son's toys for test subjects many a time. By the way, I'm in Idaho too! It's not often I run across a blogger from Idaho.
